ALBUQUERQUE - Today, the Bernalillo County District Attorney's office won a conviction after a four-day trial in district court, before Judge Jacqueline Flores. The defendant was charged after rubbing his genitals on his girlfriend's daughter's head, then 3-years-old, and performing sexual acts on himself in front of her in 2009. She immediately told her mother, who notified CYFD and local law enforcement.

The victim, now 10-years-old, bravely took the stand and testified against her abuser. The jury  returned guilty verdicts against the defendant for Criminal Sexual Contact of a Minor in the Third Degree and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor. The defendant faces sentencing up to 7.5 years in prison and registration as sex offender for life.

When the victim was notified of the conviction, she was so happy, she cried.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Brittany Duchaussee and Brianne Bigej, and aided by Wes Jensen, Kaitlyn Wheeler, Jessica Crabtree, Allen Grimmis, Tiffany Corn, and others from the Crimes Against Children Division. The case agent was Detective Bradley Strieff from the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office.
