Romero Receives 32 Year Sentence

August 15, 2017 - Johnny Romero was sentenced to 32 years after pleading in April to 2nd degree murder, Aggravated Battery and tampering with evidence for the February 2016 deadly knife attack at a Motel 6. The plea had a range of 15-32 years.
The state argued for 32 years. After arguments about mental health and emotional testimony from the victim’s family, the Court imposed the maximum sentence available under the range. Sentence will be to 44 years in DOC with 32 years of incarceration followed by 12 suspended on the condition of 5 years’ probation concurrent with parole.
