Jury Trial Ends with Guilty Verdict

August 17, 2017 - After six hours of deliberation, the two day long jury trial of Carlos Perez ended with a guilty verdict. Perez was found guilty of 2nd degree murder and battery of a household member for the June 2016 murder of his wife Vanessa Delgado in their S.E. Albuquerque home. Perez brutally strangled and ultimately murdered his wife leaving behind their four children ages ranging from 4-10 years old.  After he strangled her, he tied a plastic bag over her head and left her for dead. A sentencing date is set for November 8, 2017. It will be in front of Judge Christina Jaramillo. Perez faces up to 16 years in DOC.
