Two years ago, we embarked on a transformation of the criminal justice system, reinvigorating the
role of the District Attorney’s Office in public safety and the community. We recognized that public
safety is essential for the wellbeing of our families and critical for economic vitality. Together, we
restructured the District Attorney’s Office, focused on serving the victims of crime, improved
processes, and began using data analysis to swiftly interrupt criminal activity. We built New
Mexico’s first Crime Strategies Unit, hired special law enforcement agents, and began building
state-of-the-art analytical tools.
